Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood joined the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in August 2009 as the Chief of the Humanitarian Response Branch. In addition to supporting UNFPA’s emergency preparedness, humanitarian and recovery responses, she is responsible for developing capacity building strategies for UNFPA especially around sexual reproductive health and population issues.


Dr Jemilah is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist by training and a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists United Kingdom. Sarah Chynoweth is the Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies Adviser for International Planned Parenthood Federation, East, South East Asia and Oceania Region.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Sarah oversees IPPF’s SPRINT Initiative, which is focused on advancing sexual and reproductive health for communities in humanitarian settings throughout the region.

Previously, Sarah worked with the reproductive health program at the Women’s Refugee Commission for five years. [Read more...]

Lilianne Fan, Inter-Agency Committee Shelter Cluster in Haiti

Malaysian Lilianne Fan is the Housing, Land and Property Coordinator in the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Shelter Cluster in Haiti.

She previously served as Recovery and Development Advisor to the Coordinating Office for the ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force Myanmar and has led a team of international and national policy researchers, legal aid officers, technical experts and consultants conducting policy analysis and technical assistance to the Government of Indonesia in Aceh and Nias on a range of humanitarian, recovery and development issues.
